Abstract

Participation is the social perspective of functionality, aimed at the performance of the subject in the daily environment for, in fact, be inserted in the social context, considering the environmental and personal factors as facilitators or barriers. It is proven in the literature that there is decline in social participation due to the arising consequences of stroke. However, no study was conducted in the population, and no other study considered the functional model of the International Classification of Functioning disability and Health (CIF). Objective: To identify predictive factors for post-stroke participation, based on the functionality of the ICF model. Methods: This study it is an analytical observational, cross-sectional, in which, if evaluate the functional and emotional aspects of patients with sequelae from the stroke, based on the functionality of the ICF model to identify which factors may predict social participation after a stroke. They will be analyzed at least 30 individuals with hemiparesis due to stroke, recruited from physiotherapy clinics University Nove de Julho, as eligibility criteria. The assessment instruments for each of the ICF component was determined following recommendations of the scientific literature, and to be included in the study the instrument should be translated and adapted to Portuguese in Brazil (in the case of the questionnaire) and have easy clinical applicability. Thus, for the Body functions and structures component will evaluate the handgrip strength and emotional function, through the Jamar dynamometer and the Geriatric Depression Scale (geriatric depression scale), respectively. For the activity component will be used the Functional Independence Measure (FIM). The participation component will be considered by the Stroke Specific Quality of Life (SS-QOL). To determine which variable will be able to predict the share will be used the Multiple Linear Regression, therefore, it is first checked which variables fulfill the conditions necessary for the preparation of a valid regression model. Therefore, the correlation coefficient between the variables will be studied and included in the model variables with Spearman coefficient (r) e 0.2. The score of SS-QOL items that assess the CIF participation component will be considered as the independent variable and the other variables (grip strength, functional independence measure and emotional health (GDS)) will be considered dependent. In all analyzes will be considered a risk ± = 0.05.
