Abstract

Air pollution by metals has been an important issue in air quality research, once these particles can cause serious problems to the environment and to human health. Given the large atmospheric circulation, it is known that metals present in particulate matter from various sources such as biomass burning, car, industry, among others, can move at great distances from their point of emission. In this work, the presence of different metals will be assessed as well as their concentrations in the settle able dust in Bauru, through a system of collect jars. Jars will be positioned at different points throughout city, to evaluate the spatial variability of deposition. The concentration of metals in settle able dust will be determined by spectroscopy technique Atomic Emission by Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP-OES). The concentration of the elements will be correlated with meteorological variables and air trajectories, in order to assess the emission source of these metals, as well as transport and dispersion in the atmosphere.
