Abstract

Recently, in 2011, the Brazilian government approved the program Science Without Boarders, which had the main objective of promoting the internationalization of over 100 thousand Brazilian students. Based on this context, few studies tried to investigate the existence of a R&D spillover through the international flow of students, even when this flow is growing exponentially. Taking under consideration both the shortage of articles that relate R&D spillover with the international flow of students, as well as the massive investment of over R$3 billion in the governmental program that foment the internationalization of students, this project has the objective of analyzing the flow of Brazilian students in internationalization programs and their derived spillovers to Brazilian economic growth. The study will allow an efficient indication of the effectiveness of these internationalization programs, as well as to explicit how the amount of money invested is returning to the Brazilian society in the form of economic growth.
