Abstract

This project aims to study the compositional elements that Bach used to compose his "polyphonic melodies" present in their Partitas for solo violin BWV 1004 and 1005 and trace relationship with the latent polyphony of Luciano Berios's Sequenze; and verify what were the compositional influences that the polyphonic writing of Bach played on polyphonic ideal of Berio. Accordingly, three stages will be developed: Melodic analysis of Bach's Partita II and sonata III for solo violin BWV 1004 and 1005; Melodic analysis of Sequenza VI for viola and Sequenza VIII for violin; Research and comparative study between the writing of the two composers
