Abstract

The objective of this study is to diagnose the presence of Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii) in urine and saliva cats experimentally infected with this coccidia. To this end, six males, serologically negative cats to T. gondii will be selected to form two groups. Four cats are inoculated with tachyzoites (RH strain) subcutaneously (GI) and two will be kept as uninfected control (GII). The presence of this parasite in urine and saliva of experimental cats be evaluated in both groups by means of molecular analysis (nested PCR). As a subsidiary objective will be realized in all cats, clinical and hematological at the time of urine and saliva crops. The parasitemia is evaluated by nested PCR and bioassay in mice. Comparisons between means of the groups will be carried out by applying the Tukey test with 95 % significance.
