Abstract

The positioning on the Earth's surface always was a problem to be determined. The GNSS (Global Positioning Satellite System) was created and today became very useful for positioning users. The most popular system is the GPS (Global Positioning System) and since its creation in the 70s there were several improvements in the system, and the latest improvement was the development and availability of new GPS observables, called second civil signal (L2C) and third civil signal (L5) in 2005 and 2010, respectively. In this research the main objective is to initiate studies for the use of new GPS observables in positioning. With this research project will be possible to analyze the improvement in positioning accuracy with the use of the new GPS observables using various methods, including the relative positioning and network-based positioning with the use of virtual stations.
