Abstract Between 1980 and 2015 three musical genres were particularly important for Brazilian low income classes: samba, rap and funk. Based on the main objective of the postdoctoral research, that is to understand the relationship among music, society, and historical period, from the perspective of the three referred musical genres, the applicant intends, through a research internship in France, to understand how the Parisian periphery, through his artistic production, reflects changes that occur in the social and economic scenario. This approach was already used by the author in his doctoral research, when, to discourse about existing artistic collectives on the outskirts of Sao Paulo, crafted the "peripheral subject" concept. From a comparative perspective between the suburbs of Paris and Sao Paulo, it is intended to refine the concept and discuss its validity in a country of central capitalism. | |
