Abstract

Coatings of Fe-based, Al-based and Cu-based alloys processed under non-thermodynamic equilibrium metallic alloys represent great potential for industrial application and technological innovation by improving corrosion and wear properties of steel components. Keeping up with national and global scientific and technological advances of this emergent subject may provide an understanding of the current and potential future scenario of developments. This research aims at monitoring the scientific and technological advances of amorphous, quasicrystalline and nanostructured metallic alloys used as coatings in metal parts and analyze their potential impact on economic developments for companies from the São Paulo State and Brazil. The monitoring procedure will be based on S&T indicators developed from patents and scientific publications using advanced data and text mining techniques. Besides evaluating trends on materials, process, and knowledge flow among research areas, companies, S&T institutions and other organizations potentially benefited by technologies regarding these special coatings the will be mapped. It is intended to facilitate the exchange of information and knowledge between companies and researchers working in the context of metallic coatings and support the on-going investigations in the thematic project which this research is linked to. The results will be disseminated through a database built from a set of indicators and information that support decision making, technological transfer and management.
