Abstract

The overall objective of this research is to analyze the effects of ritualization and sacralization of peasant and indigenous leaders, killed in land conflict zones in the Amazon and Brazilian Northeast, to understand the symbolic dimension of the struggle for land in these regions of the country, from Carrying out ethnographic fieldwork in three pilgrimages organized and/or supported by the Regional Pastoral Land Commission (CPT) and the Indigenous Missionary Council (CIMI): the Pilgrimage of Land and Water Padre Josimo, held every May in State of Tocantins; the Pilgrimage of the Forest, which takes place in July in Anapu (PA); and the Martyrs of the Walk Pilgrimage, in Ribeirão Cascalheira (MT), where is located the Latin America Martyrs Gallery; fieldwork will also take place in the Assembly of the Ororubá Xukuru people, which takes place in May, in Pesqueira (PE).
