Abstract

This project aims the synthesis and characterization on the solid state of cocrystals obtained from the Ibuprofen and Naproxen, using rice starch as co-former agent. The cocrystals will be obtained through mechanochemical methods (Grinding assisted by solvent), with the aid of a ball mill and by crystallization in solution, using ethanol as the organic solvent, too.The characterization of cocrystals will be made through the following experiments: Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Thermogravimetry (TG), Differential thermal analysis (DTA), Atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) by the powder and single crystal methods. This project will be realized in partnership between the Chemistry Department of UNESP - Bauru and the Food Engineering Department of UEPG - Ponta Grossa with Prof. Dr. Egon Schnitzler's collaboration. Therefore, it is expected to obtain cocrystals able to provide different characteristics and an improvement in physical-chemical properties, such as solubility and photo degradation of anti-inflammatory drugs used in this study.
