Abstract

The sheep breeding is an important activity for the supply of meat and meat products for the domestic market and also for Brazilian exports. Given the importance that sheep breeding represents for the State of São Paulo and the country, it is essential to know the reproductive biology and morphology of the reproductive organs to increase their production. In order to contribute to this knowledge and provide information on reproductive morphology of these animals, the aim of this purpose is to describe the distribution, based on the morphology of collagen and elastic fibers in the ram penis, looking collaborate with further investigations, especially those concerning the rational exploration of these animals. For this, will be collected fragments of the ram penis, of several beef breeds as Santa Ines, Dorper and Texel. The material will be fixed in paraformaldehyde for 24 h. After the histological fixation, the samples will be destined to the routine for inclusion in ParaplastTM (Sigma, St. Louis, MO, USA). Following the inclusion will be obtained histological sections of 5 µm thick, which will be mounted on silanized slides and destined for the histological routine. (AU)
