Abstract

Due to the growing use of equipment with non-linear characteristics, it is easier to verify a lot of conditions for the appearance of resonance and harmonic amplification, in the current power system, caused by the interaction of inductive and capacitive reactance of present equipment. In this context and in order to ensure quality of electricity standards, and also because there are many sensitive equipment to the minimum variations of voltage and current, this effect becomes increasingly prominent and constant concern for the technical community scientific. Because of that, the proposed research will focus on the study of the effect of resonance and harmonic amplification in primary distribution networks. The analysis will be based on the observation of harmonic injection into the system by computer simulations, and also will search for techniques that indicate the components of greatest importance and preoccupation, in addition with vaible mitigation techniques to the problem, or even their total elimination. For the final phase of the project will be given special focus to the implementation of a mitigation technique in this case based on the use of active filters to reduce adverse harmonic distortion. For this proposal, it is intend to implement by RTDS (Real Time Digital Simulator) an active filter, taking into account their specific features and their components. Logically, the portion of the distribution system of interest for this research have already been includ in the RTDS, together with its non-linear loads, which will bring greater familiarity to the undergraduate student of its use and understanding of the problem in analysis.
