Abstract Fatty acids profile it is an economically important trait, which influences thesensorial and nutritional value of meat. Among the regulatory mechanisms, miRNAs have emerged as a new dimension in post-transcriptional regulation in mammals. Recent developments in molecular genetics, such as platforms for genotyping and genome sequencing in several experimentalconditions, currently allows the large-scale analysis of biological interactions andprocesses related to production traits. This study attempts to evaluate the extent towhich miRNA-mediated post-transcriptional regulation regulates gene expression intwo species, Bos indicus and Bos taurus, through comparison of miRNA data setsrelated to fatty acids. This study will provide additional information about miRNAs andtheir functional role in beef cattle. Ultimately, this will help to elucidate molecularmechanisms controlling traits of interest and then help to improve livestock production. (AU) | |
