Abstract

This project has as its objective to analyze the works of south African artist William Kentridge (1955-), by means of authors Carl Gustav Jung and Joseph Campbell's concepts of "Journey", thus proposing a new approach to his works. It expects to contribute to the critical fortune on him, through the analysis of collection of data as registries, articles, and catalogs on his works, having as its object the exhibitions presented in Brazil with Kentridge's participation, as well as works of his authorship available on the internet, all of which shall be analyzed with the support of Jung and Campbell's respectively founded a line of thoughts, which have been continuously developed by other scholars until this current moment. It is expected through this research to open the path to a new approach to art-criticism, based on the concept of journey, dealing with psychological, social, and symbolic aspects of art production and fruition.
