Abstract

In this project, scientific initiation research development that had Bolsa FAPESP from 2012 to 2013, focusing on a wide audio / visual material on the Folia de Reis of Prudencio, plan to study tunes sung by the ambassadors of the latest generation of revelers. Rich and numerous collections, organized and identified within a period of more than thirty years, has brought to light music and important data extramusical this Folia. Through family ties and long contact time and participation, they were gathered a total of 144h24m26s video, 12,571 digital photos, 78 photos printed, scanned 04h25m31s K7 recording. However, I intend to explore musical sources with the acquis and through transcripts, analyzing the music of Folia and its changes over time, as well as develop the study from the participatory research. The musical transcriptions, besides being a form of documentary record, can help deepen knowledge of devotional music that hillbilly tradition as a whole.Search study specific situations sing and improvise verses:a) The tune sung when it comes to a home with crib or not, which implies two different ways to respond musically;b) The tune sung when the Folia is surprised by some faithful through his path;c) The tune sung in memory of someone who died. In this situation no one holding the flag remains supported on the ground.
