Abstract

Regenerative endodontics aims to return the pulp vitality through biologically based procedures. The method most frequently used for evaluation of tissue engineering in endodontics includes the use of root sections of 1 mm length, receiving nutrition by cervical and apical ends, inserted into the subcutaneous layer of immunosuppressed mice. However, this does not reflect the clinical reality, where the roots usually have more than 10 mm in length and only its apical end provides nutrition to the pulp tissue through the apical foramen. The aim of our project is to evaluate the influence of root length and its source of nutrition in the pulp regeneration, testing the clinical application of a decade of research in pulp regeneration. For this purpose it'll be inserted Matrigel with dental pulp stem-cells in root sections of different lengths with one end sealed or not with MTA, which will be implanted bilaterally on the dorsum of immunocompromised mice, where will be kept for 28 days and then analyzed with microscopy optics.
