Abstract

The seeds behave in different ways in relation to desiccation, being classified as orthodox, recalcitrant and intermediate. Orthodox seeds tolerate desiccation and storage at low temperatures, different from recalcitrant seeds, which have sensitivity. A group of seeds that do not fit this classification, called intermediate. Orthodox seeds have desiccation tolerance (TD) at the end of maturation and during soaking, and behave like recalcitrant after the root protrusion. Studies have been made with the use of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and ABA for restoring TD in germinated seeds, targeting the stimulation of gene expression and mechanisms involved, allowing its identification. This study will provide knowledge of the processes involved in TD seeds, allowing generate information for the improvement of breeding programs of plant species and assist in conservation of seeds sensitive to desiccation. It aims to re-establish this project desiccation tolerance in germinated seeds and to identify genes and mechanisms related to TD. The project will be carried out at FCA / UNESP-Botucatu. Reviews are made of the loss and restoration of TD in Solanum lycocarpum seeds to identify related genes by means of RNA sequence (RNA-Seq) followed by validation thereof by PCR in real time. The data will be statistically analyzed using normality test, analysis of variance and average test or regression analysis.
