Abstract

The objectives of this study will be the use of live yeast and monensin, in association or not in the performance and ruminal health Zebu cattle feedlot. The experiment will be conducted in the feedlot of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, UNESP - Campus Botucatu. Will be used 88 bulls with initial weight of 360kg come from continuous grazing system. The experimental design is a randomized block divided into four treatments: T1 - basal diet without additives, T2 - basal diet + monensin (27 ppm / kg DM), T3 - basal diet + live yeast (2 g / animal / day) T4 - basal diet + live yeast (2 grams) and monensin (27 ppm / kg DM). Each treatment will consist of six pens, in which 4 pens with 4 animals and 2 pens with 3 animals. Will follow the 14-day adaptation protocol (step-up), which consists in increasing the amount of concentrate in the diet throughout the adaptation, in which case 5, 4 and 5 days with 67%, 74%, 87% concentrate respectively. The diets will be provided twice a day (9 a.m. and 3 p.m.). After the adaptation period the animals receive a single-ended diet 87% concentrate varying only the addition or not of additives, when after 90 days of trough independent of body weight and subcutaneous fat will be slaughtered at a commercial slaughterhouse. Data will be submitted to analysis of variance using the MIXED procedure of SAS software. Will be do Tukey test to compare the averages. Will be considered significant P values <0.05.
