Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate biomarker stability (hematologic values, lipid profile, nutritional and metabolic status, inflammatory and anti-inflammatory markers) on blood samples from participants depending on time, temperature during storage and transportation to central laboratory in São Paulo. This multicenter study will analyze children and adolescents between 3 and 17 years old from São Paulo (Brazil) and other six South American cities: Teresina (Brazil), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Santiago (Chile), Montevideo (Uruguay), Lima (Peru) and Medellín (Colombia). The study sample will consist of 18 children of each age group (preschoolers, schoolers and adolescents) in each city. After standardized blood collection, a third of the samples will be fractionated, one part being analyzed in the city of origin and the other being sent to the central laboratory in São Paulo, by a specialized company in transportation of biological material, for analysis. The agreement between results obtained in the city of origin of these samples and in the central laboratory will be calculated using intraclass correlation coefficient, supplemented with Bland-Altman plots.
