Abstract

The violence against women is a complex phenomenon and the result of a social construction, cultural, political and religious, based on the differences between the sexes. The Maria da Penha law was created as a protective measure for women victims of violence and consequent punishment of the aggressor. The research is entitled Violence against women: a study on the profile of aggressors aims to investigate the socioeconomic profile of aggressors who practice violence against women, by analyzing the police investigations opened by the Defence of Women Police Station of the city of Assis/SP. It is very important to study the characteristics of the aggressor and the reasons that led him to commit such violence, enabling the implementation of an appropriate treatment to prevent and reduce the aggressions.
