Abstract

This work aims to develop a hermeneutic interpretation, a revision of the up-to-dateness and the range of the Weberian diagnostics of modernity departing from a Post-Marxist discursive perspective which intends to interpret the current Latin American political scene. Thus, we will analyze the sociology of domination of Max Weber in light of Chantal Mouffe and Ernesto Laclau's theory of hegemony; at the same time, we will rework the main political and sociological questions which are derived from the above mentioned Weberian diagnostics, formulated in the beginning of the twentieth century, in view of contemporary Latin American political situation, represented by the Argentinian and Brazilian politics between 2005 and 2011.
