Abstract

This project aims to develop an analytical study of modifiers of the nominal head whose main feature is to denote zero order entities or properties, first-order entities or individuals; second-order entities or States of affairs and third-order entities or propositional contents (LYONS, 1977; GRAMMAR HENGEVELD, 2008). The analysis will be performed from the perspective of Theory of Functional Grammar's (DIK, 1989) Functional Discourse Grammar's theoretical assumptions (HENGEVELD & MACKENZIE, 2008). The sample to be analyzed will be extracted from Iboruna Corpus which was collect by ALIP Project, designed by Functional Grammar Research Group. The research proposed here gives priority to the pragmatic and semantic properties of the adjctives inside the NP as a motivation to evoke a referential subact at the Interpersonal Level and to establish a denotation, at the Representational level with reflections on the formal constitution of the constituents at the Morphosyntactic level.
