Abstract

This project aims to investigate autobiographic documents of Claire Reuge Lange's immigration experience, such as "The Memories of Claire Reuge Lange- the first time in Brazil", an autobiography, and seventeen letters written by Claire to her parents, mostly, and to her brothers and her aunt, in the years of 1888 to 1908. Claire's memories concern the foundation of Brüderthal Colony and other important aspects of the period she spent in Brazil. The data interpretation will be based on "The foreigner" of Alfred Schutz, focusing on Claire's experience as a foreigner, such as approached by her in her memories. (AU)
