Abstract

The work aims to understand the geopolitics of Russia from the first government of Vladimir Putin. Using three major points: the political relations, military actions, economic development, and their relationships. Russia has experienced significant economic development, which has structured growth rates in its large hydrocarbon reserves and other natural resources, demonstrating proactive actions in the Council UN Security and clearly demarcating its international interests is in a perspective soft power, as it has draws in relations with the BRICS, or in hardening strategies (hard power) coercing Europe central Europe, from demonstrations on oil supply cuts, or effectively active in the military sphere with the actions in South Ossetia, Ukraine and Syria. In that, way the Putin´s Russia is regaining its world leadership, performing more direct interventions in its area of influence, as well as in shaping alliances that cause changes in the world system. Thus, it is the analysis of these political strategies, economic and Russian military that make up the centrality of this research. (AU)
