Abstract

The transposable element Tnt1 is present in a high number of copies in the Nicotiana tabacum genome. In previous results, this transposable element was indicated to be linked with development of leaf-disc-regenarated tobacco. Also in previous results another transposable element from the same family as Tnt1 appears to have a cyclic pattern of expression throughout the cell cycle. Thus, this project aims to characterize the relation between Tnt1 expression and the cell cycle with silencing studies and expression profiling of Tnt1 from Bright Yellow 2 (BY-2) tobacco cells.
