Abstract

To evaluate the effect of treatment with different concentration of antioxidant Carnosine on human spermatozoa during sperm processing step. For this purpose, semen samples from 30 patients will be used. Initially, the semen will be performed and the rest of the sample will be the seminal processing as follows: the first aliquot will be the control group (C) only with culture medium HTF without adittion of antioxidant; The second group is the Antioxidant Carnosine1 (C1) to receive addition of this antioxidant and culture medium HTF; and the last one will be the group Carnosine2 (C2) to receive a different concentration of antioxidant Carnosine and culture medium HTF. After the incubations, aliquots to follow descontinuos density gradient process for thirty minutes. Thus, the sperm will be subjected to functional assessments: acrosome integrity, mitochondrial activity, membrane potential, membrane integrity or vitality, DNA fragmentation and level of superoxide anion. To statistical analysis will be used the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test for analysis of data normality, considering ± = 5%. (AU)
