Abstract

The serine protease TMPRSS11A (DESC3), belonging to the newly discovered family HAT / DESC serine transmembrane protease type II (TTSPII) is deleted / mutated in, respectively, 4% of cervical cancers and 2% of cancers mouth (obtained cBioPortal database). However, little is known about this enzyme. However, in John P. Hobson et al. (JBC Papers, 2004) observed that the serine protease TMPRSS11E (DESC1) belonging to the same family TTPSII is present in the epidermis (keratinocytes) and in the ovaries, and also raises the possibility of their proteolytic activities are of importance to human health. Thus, the discovery of potential signaling pathway of TMPRSS11A is a pioneering study and a candidate with possible target genes to develop specific therapies and, in the short term, as a prognostic marker of oral carcinomas. For the realization of this study will use knockout mice TMPRSS11A, Sales KU et al. (PlosOne, 2011), which are viable and fertile, which are an excellent tool. (AU)
