Abstract

This study will produce as a result of the proposed project compaction curves for soils with different magnetic signatures, identifying the percentage of moisture that determines the maximum compression. The hypothesis is that magnetic susceptibility (MS), covariativa minerals with magnetic expression, may indicate soils with different behaviors compression when handled at different moisture contents. Soils with higher total iron content (Fe2O3) have higher MS and tend to have a lower reason kaolinite (Kt) and gibbsite (Gb) Kt/(Kt+Gb), giving less potential for compression, requiring higher moisture content to condition greater compression or maximum density. The aim of this study is clarify the behavior of compression curves in soils with different magnetic signatures by Proctor test. Compression curves will be built by Proctor test for soil: Oxisols; and Entisol dystrophic. Also the particle size, soil resistance to penetration and magnetic signature in four depths (0.0-0.1 m; 0.1 to 0.2 m, 0.2 - 0 3 m 0.3 to 0.4 m) will be evaluated . In this work the degree of compaction of the soil in six different humidities (6, 12, 18, 24, 30 and 36%) for each soil type and layer will be analysed too.
