Abstract

Mars does not have an intrinsic magnetic field, the interaction between the solar wind and the Mars environment occurs directly with the upper atmosphere and ionosphere of the planet. Thus its magnetosphere is an induced one. The induced magnetosphere of Mars show various plasma boundary, such as the bow shock, the magnetic pile-up boundary (MPB) and the ionopause. These separating plasma environments of the Mars magnetosphere, including the magnetosheath. The magnetosheath is found between the bow shock and MPB, and is dominated by compressive MHDs waves. The study of waves propagation is very important due to the fact that they have an important role in the energy and momentum transfer between the solar wind and the Mars magnetosphere. This project aims to study electron oscillations in the magnetosheath of Mars from desity, temperature, pressure and speed parameters, as measured by plasma instrument of Mars express probe. The main electron oscillation periods and the plasma distribution form in the magnetosheath region will be identified through the use of wavelet and statistical time affordes by kurtosis thecniques, where technical wavelet will identify the frequency of oscillation and the time of the fourth order (Kurtosis) will observe fast and energetic phenomena in plasma variables. The objective is to also update the bordery identification catalog of Mars magnetosphere.
