Abstract

In industry, parameters such as hardness, roughness, microstructure are used for quality control of the machining process. Given the fact that it is usually necessary to move the workpiece to the quality control center to check these parameters, the use of a portable quality control system to be used in the process could reduce inspection time. The micro hardness, roughness, microstructure and magnetic Barkhausen noise (MBN) can be modified by variation of cutting parameters. The MBN is normally used for checking magnetic properties of the ferromagnetic material. The objective of this study is to monitor the condition of the surface machined with spherical cutter through the MBN. With the success of this work, monitoring the condition of the surface machined will take place in the process and thus reducing manufacturing cycle time. (AU)
