Abstract

Here we propose a project in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics focused on the synthesis and study of chemical substitution in the antiferromagnetic compound Eu3Ir4Sn13. By means of the Sn melt flux technique, we will grow Eu3-xRxIr4Sn13 single crystals, where R = Ca and Sr, for different contents x. The samples will be characterized by X-rays powder diffaction in order to check the crystaline structure and phase purity and also to identify the lattice parameters. The characteristic temperatures will be determined from temperature dependent manetization and resistivity measurements to built the temperature T versus content x phase diagrams. We hope that this proposal promotes and improves the academic and scientific formation of the candidate Igor Kenji Endo Bianchi and qualify him to pursue postgraduate studies. We hope also that the present project contributes to the development of the research lines in Condensed Matter Physics under responsibility of Dra. Leticie M. Ferreira. (AU)
