Abstract

The research aims to investigate the potential of urban interventions, mainly sound interventions, with approach to social and political issues, of promoting qualitative forms of appropriation of public space, and to what extent these interventions are able to propitiate a locus of communication, encouraging people’s participation. The research has its focus delimited by interventions related to the Art knowledge area, intentionally made, ephemeral or permanent, making use of sound interfaces and which foster proximity and participation of people from different backgrounds, raising questions concerning political and social issues in a contextualized way and fostering appropriation of public spaces. The research has a practical approach, which in turn derives from theoretical studies and, conversely, also feeds practice. The subject is relevant and has not been fully understood since it is a contemporary phenomenon that involves cultural, public and private institutions, and also art collectives, groups and activists. Thus, the project aims to approach areas of knowledge such as Architecture, Urban Planning, Design, Communication and Arts.
