Abstract

The techniques of Geoprocessing contribute to the location of public demands and understanding of spatial dynamics of public interest. They have shown to be extremely important for the elaboration of urban policies. Thus, the georeferencing of information about the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo intends to give support to researches and to the formulation of public policies in the areas of education, health, social assistance, urban planning, amongst others. The Technology Transference Area of the Center for Metropolitan Studies has been responsible for producing a collection of georeferenced data - which is available for free in the Center's website - about transport, mobility, education and health. Furthermore, the Transference Area searches to assist to the understanding of new territorial arrangements, politics, demography, the behavior of the job market, urban conflicts, associativism, culture and religion. The present scientific initiation project, developed with CEM's Tecnology Tranference Area, has the goal to help in the building, update and correction of this collection of georreferenced data. The main activities to be developed are: the development of the new digital basemap of the municipal bus lines of São Paulo, adherent to CEM's basemap of streets; the maintaining and updating the georeferenced base of public and private schools in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo; the maintaining and updating of the georeferenced base of health establishments (Health Establishments National Register - CNES - Ministry of Health) of São Paulo's Metropolitan Area; the correcting and maintaining of the base of wheighting areas for the 2010 census, using the base of census sections developed by the Center and adherent to the Geographic Information System; And the technical support, in the Geoprocessing area, to the thematic projects developed by the Center.
