Abstract

This project has as object the book Las Cartas que no llegaron by Mauricio Rosencof, writer and playwright has born at Uruguay. The book was published in 2000. Analysing this book as an historical document, we propose a reflection about its features, talking with some of the historiography works. The discussion involving literature y testimonio and the questions around "writing itself." The analyse of the novel enables us, also, into the context of the dictatorship of uruguay (1973-1985) and give us the dimension of the effects of political repression on militants of a revolutionary organization, the Movimiento de Liberación Nacional - Tupamaro. We can to understand the connections established by means of the narrative, between various temporalities 'cause the novel approaches a variety of themes important in the history of this country platinum, as the european immigration, the process of urbanization and growth of capital, the affirmation of social identities (families of jewish origin) and the discussion of national identity. We further to analyze some aspects of the trajectory and circulation of this book, considering its welcome in the midst of the literary, in the academic environment and the way in which the political engagement of the author interfered in this process.
