Abstract

The objective is to develop a computer system to manage, scan, filter and process data of hours of sunshine monitored by heliographs in weather stations. Using techniques of digital image processing, hours of sunshine are counted automatically, forming a daily database, common in most weather stations, and a hourly database, which represents a novelty since the same it is hardly used by the difficulty of manual counting process. The system is divided into modules and developed in oriented language Delphi objects. It is composed of scanning modules, responsible for choosing the appropriate heliogram due to seasonality; quality control module, responsible for applying filters in the spatial domain to enhance and strengthen the edges to better identify the burned parts; and counting module, responsible for counting the pixels belonging to the burning of paper with rectilinear techniques to spring-autumn heliograms and curvilinear for summer-winter heliograms. It will be used an 2012 hourly and daily database to verify the performance of the software. After application of digital image processing techniques, is expected to achieve satisfactory results.
