Abstract

This project aims to produce small pieces of amorphous metal alloys based on Ti and Zr, with the addition of some rare earth elements, using a production system that works with a process of fusion by electric arc and casting copper chill. The pieces will be characterized by X-ray diffraction and optical microscopy (OM), and also will be analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), oxygen content analysis, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).Finally, study the results obtained in the various samples in order to understand the influence of alloy composition in the amorphous maximum thickness obtained and the thermal properties.
