Abstract

The objective of this project is study of dielectric and piezoelectric properties of polymer/PZT (Lead Zirconate Titanate) composites with 1-3 connectivity. To obtain of the composites will be employed the castor-oil based polyurethane and as second phase PZT microwires. The piezoelectric response will be evaluated according to the stoichiometric ratio between the prepolymer and polyol (castor-oil based) in order to correlate with the mechanical properties of the matrices. Dependence of the piezoelectric coefficient d33 with the intensity of the electric field and polarization time also will be investigated. This study intends to evaluate the dielectric properties to investigate the relaxation processes that occur when the composites are subjected to an external ac electric field. With the analysis will be possible to assess that the composite has potentiality of application as energy harvesting or piezoelectric sensor. (AU)
