Abstract

The Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) is a new sheet metal forming process that has advantages over conventional forming processes to manufacture small batches or customized parts or prototypes and does not require any die to shape a component, decreasing the production cost. This process is interesting to the automotive, aeronautical and medical industries, where the individuality of the part is more important than the quantity. The process parameters that have great influence in SPIF are the size forming tool, the incremental size step down on axis Z, the feed rate, the rotation speed of the tool and the lubrification. The objective of this work is to study numerically the effects of some parameters process like the size forming tool and the incremental size step down on axis Z in SPIF. It will be realize a systematic bibliography review in publications about the use of the finite element method to the SPIF, and it will be considered the softwares, conditions and the findings of the authors. Some important data will be selected to realize simulations with a different software than the one used by the authors. The purpose is to find a way to indicate if has differentiation between results using the same conditions and to point the software that better represents the process. (AU)
