Abstract

The cancer of unknown primary is an heterogeneous cancer group whose origin remain unknown despite appropriated workup. Symptoms due metastasis are the main clinical presentation and it might not be only influenced by tumor biologic process but also by tumor microenvironment regulatory process. ADAMTS-1 is a metalloproteinase related to several physiological mechanisms and plays a role in tumor microenvironment by down-regulation of angiogenesis that is fundamental for tumorigenesis and metastasis development. Other phenomenon from tumor microenvironment is the tumor metabolic reprogramming and different molecular profile expression is related to this process and has been associated with different tumor histology of cancer of unknown primary. Aim: we aim to evaluate the molecular expression associated with tumor microenvironment of cancer of unknown primary and their association with clinicopathological features and clinical outcomes. Methods: a tissue microarray will be built and immunohistochemistry performed to analyze the molecular expression of tumor microenvironment and ADAMTS-1. Clinical outcomes like overall survival and event-free survival will be analyzed by Kaplan Meier curve and comparisons by log rank. (AU)
