Abstract

Hypothalamus is a well known portion of the central nervous system which modulates hormone concentration in responses to metabolism balance feedback. Alteration in lactacidemia informs neurons located in this region that energy demand has increased, triggering counter regulatory actions. As we are showing in our PhD study, lactate stimulates numerous hypothalamic neurons and they could control pituitary production providing homeostasis maintenance. For it, monocarboxylases transporter assume important role in this communication, allowing this metabolite influx to the cell and may proportioned it's directly actions. To investigate whether MCT1 is necessary for lactate action and which neuro-hormones expressions it is stimulating, MCT1 heterozygous null mice will be submitted to a high intense exercise, increasing its lactacidemia and primary culture cells will be challenge with high lactate medium concentration. The mice will provide evidence that lactate has to enter to the cell and modify its metabolism to regulated neuro hormones expression, and hypothalamus incubation will show the exclusive lactate action on hypothalamic cells, despite any other influation.
