Abstract

The overall goal of this project is to assess the affordances (opportunities of action / movement) available in the home environment of infants at risk for delayed motor development and to correlate the affordances to infant´s motor performance. For this, families with children aged from six to twelve months, involved in the program of the Pastoral da Criança of Piracicaba, will be included in the study. Parents will be contacted during the monthly weight check day at the Pastoral da Criança. They will be informed of the nature and purpose of the study and were invited to participate. The assessment of the motor affordances in the home environment will be done through the application of the questionnaire Affordances in the Home Environment for Infant Motor Development-Infant Scale. (AHEMD-IS). The AHEMD-IS evaluate aspects related to the physical space of the residence, daily activities, gross and fine motor toys available to the infant. The Alberta Infant Motor Scale will be used to assess motor performance of infants. It is estimated the participation of at least 25 families and their infants. For the data analysis, will be used descriptive statistics and will be investigated the correlation between the motor performance of the infants and affordances considering the physical space, daily activities and toys identified in the home environment. Significance level of 5%. (AU)
