Abstract

This project has as search object the fundamental textual production of Giuseppe Penone, his Writings by artist. The objective of the research is the interlingual translation of those poetic texts, favoring both its semantic aspect and the materiality of the sign. Giuseppe Penone's writings are an unprecedented component of his artistic production - notably sculptural - whose first Brazilian thesis devoted entirely to it was developed by the author of this project. According to the artist, his sculpture would be unthinkable without the existence of his textual production, since it is from this that his reflections find the mise en form visual, but it does not mean that his writings are in function of his sculpture. Taking the main direction of Penone's work, which is, the dissolution of categories like human x nature or nature x culture, but also inside x outside and time x space, his writings fulfill this same role integrating this aesthetic project by rebinding the binomial text x art that until the advent of the Writings by artist had the text as secondary in relation to the artistic object. Giuseppe Penone provided the candidate the translation rights to his more than 300 writings, originally published in 2009 under the title Giuseppe Penone. Scritti 1968 - 2008, by the Museo d'Arte Moderna di Bologna, in partnership with the english gallery IKON Gallery. Besides the translation, the project includes the curation of a bilingual editorial project and the publication of articles on the reflections undertaken throughout the research. (AU)
