Abstract

Inserted in the context of new city planning models, tactical urbanism is characterized by the involvement, not only by public agencies, but also by private organizations and/or by the community in the decision and insertion of public leisure areas and enjoyment of the city. Normally those options are punctual and low coast, whereas their development and insertion have a plural character, concretizing per temporarily agencies of space or with slim constructions. Such actions intend some kind of result that is observed more quickly, but that is preserved in time. Example of those actions are the Parklets, in other words, small outdoor public spaces with furniture, in the parking lane, normally associate with an institution or local business. In the city of São Paulo, Parklets were defunding, and today they are 93 spaces, and more to build. This research intends to analyze the Parklets' using and appropriation, taking into account their design, proposed or linked program, local and source of recourses to its building. It is intended to reach an understanding about how those factors influence the way those small spaces are produced and appropriated by public and private entities, and by the citizens - thinking of their reflections in the context of the city. Key words: Tactical urbanism; micro planning; bottom-up; Parklets (AU)
