Abstract

One of the great challenges of geographical practice is to articulate, theoretically, the theoretical and empirical dimensions, so that categories and concepts can express, abstractly, the concreticity of the geographical phenomena. It is remarkable, on the other hand, the metaphysical treatment that space, territory and territoriality take in certain researches, mystifying its constitutive and procedural elements for a real interpretation of the social relations that materially aim at spatiality and territoriality. The central concerns of this research project abroad are, therefore, largely to analyze the conceptions of space, territory and territoriality in the scientific production of Claude Raffestin, comparing the theoretical-empirical elements of these geographical categories with the "relational problem" argued by this author. To this end, the execution of this research internship in connection with the Department of Geography and Environment of the University of Geneva (Switzerland) legitimizes itself, in view of the department in which Claude Raffestin developed his intellectual trajectory and, together with other researchers, deepened their research and theoretical-methodological productions, relating and potentializing the conceptions of territory and territoriality. In addition, the participation in the COLLECTER (Collectif de Refléxion autour de la Territorialité), a research group of this department that currently works with the textual productions of Claude Raffestin, reflecting the solid scientific bases that allow to base a "theory of Territoriality ". In addition to the direct academic and formative contributions, the aim is to strengthen institutional ties at the international level and the possibility of building future academic projects between geographers of the two renowned institutions.
