Abstract

This research project has as objectives to verify the impact of perinatal measurements at different moments of the two cohorts in terms of fine motor and balance skills and to evaluate whether the probability of having fine motor and balance problems from childhood to adolescence would be conditioned to perinatal issues such as birth weight. Method: We will use data from the 1958 National Child Development Study (NCDS) (sweeps 1, 2 and 3), composed by children age 7, age 11 and age 16, respectively, and the 1970 British Cohort Study (BCS) (sweeps 1, 3 and 4), composed by children with birth age, age 10 and age 16, respectively, to analyze how the association between family characteristics and child's characteristics on birth, as weight, with motor skills have changed over time. Statistical Analysis: The data will be statistically analyzed by latent class analysis (LCA) and latent transition analysis (LTA).
