Abstract

Silver halides (AgX, X = Cl, Br, and I), have attracted much interest because of their electronic, magnetic, optical, photocatalytic and bactericide properties. Recently, experimental and theoretical studies of silver-based materials report that modifications on the surfaces of materials with Ag metal nanoparticles (with excellent conductivity and strong capacity of trapping of electrons) could increase the rate of electron-hole separation, making the AgXs promising materials for photocatalysis and antibacterial activity, among other applications. Therefore, this essay aims to study and analyze the synthesis of AgXs through the copreciptation method in aqueous media under different temperatures, in addition to monitoring the nucleation and formation of Ag on the surface metal of the material. The characterization of the samples shall be made by means of X-ray diffractometry (XRD), absorption spectroscopy in the ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis), Raman Spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL).
