Abstract

The investigation of the caregiver's representations is inserted in the subjective aspects of the child and structures one of the axes of the parents-baby clinic. Researches demonstrate the importance of these representations since the symbolic order precedes the emergence of an individual human subject. The birth and development of the child are tied to a history of psychic representations of caregivers. These representations may interfere with resilience or symptom onset in the premature baby. The particularities of each gestation are articulated to a network of words, acts and symptoms specific to the pregnant woman and her neighbors and give meaning to the child's birth. From the encounter with the other the baby is psychically constituted. Being the psychic constitution of one subject intertwined with the desire of the other, research on birth and motherhood deepens the knowledge about conditions experienced by parturients, the impact of this phenomenon on newborns and the effect that psychoanalytic interventions can help in the healthy experience of the post childbirth. Since parental signifiers are the constituent basis of the child's symbolic existence, speech is used as an instrument of analysis. The method will have semi-structured interviews that will be answered by the parental couple at Maternidade Santa Isabel de Bauru. The objective of this study is to investigate the representations of mothering in caregivers of infants in NICU and their influence on the psychic constitution of the baby from three axes: the parental representations about the child, the fantasies about the hospitalization of the baby and the construction of the maternity function.
