Abstract

The purpose of this project is to analyze the three movements of the Bachianas Brasileiras No. 1: Introduction (Embolada), Prelude (Modinha) and Fugue (Talk) from a transformational approach, following the line of proposed by Steven Rings in which analytical tools neo-Riemannian are used to illuminate familiar aspects of tonality (RINGS 2011, p. 1). Based on this approach, the results of musical analysis will be presented in form of graphs and transformational networks, aimed at creating a musical analytical support that at a later stage to this research, point to reflect on the question of meaning and identity, according to idea of Néstor García Canclini about cultural hybridization processes (CANCLINI, 2008).
