Abstract

Considering the typical psychic development of an infant born from a full term pregnancy and the specificities and difficulties arising from premature birth that demand hospitalization on Neonatal ICU (Intensive Care Unit), this current research aims to comprehend the structuring of the mother-baby bonding in prematurity conditions inside of a hospital's Neonatal ICU that adopts the rooming-in. For such, weekly observations of 3 pairs will be held, according to Esther Bick's adapted infant observation method, in the ICU of the Regional Hospital of Assis, for approximately a month. All collected data will be analyzed through the psychoanalytic perspective. (AU)
