Abstract

The importance of the buffalo species is on their production skills (meat, milk, leather, horn, etc.) and its tensile strength, leading the notoriety of the species in the global economy and investments in similar technology programs to those applied in cattle. So the search for better reproductive rates is leading to selection of genetically superior animals through reproductive biotechnologies, one of the main artificial insemination, which is associated with biotechnology semen. Studies seeking fertility indicators semen making the study of proteins in the seminal plasma object of research in order to identify the proteins that make up the seminal plasma of cattle and buffalos that function as fertility markers. Among these highlight the bovine seminal plasma proteins (BSP) and osteopontin, among others. The aim of this study is to identify the different proteins in the seminal plasma of cattle and buffaloes, determining the relationship and effects of these macromolecules on the basic processes of sperm function. Will be compared semen parameters and the verification and quantification of the presence of proteins in the seminal plasma of buffalo and adult cattle, besides the realization of two-dimensional electrophoresis coupled to mass spectrometry, enabling the development of new techniques that contribute to the increase and prediction fertility and buffalo semen. Keywords: fertility markers, cattle, buffalo, seminal plasma. (AU)
